How to Detox After the Holidays

Now that holiday season has officially kicked into gear, so is the busy travel period. A lot of us either head back to our hometowns to spend time with our families or hop on a plane for a holiday vacation. In either scenario, traveling can take a toll on our bodies especially since we have to head right back to work once all the fun is over. I swear by detoxing to reset both my mind and body after traveling, and since I’ve been traveling more often, it’s really helped me.

Since we can all feel a bit sluggish, jet-lagged and dehydrated once the holidays are over, I wanted to share some of my detoxing tips with you. On the other hand, it’s crucial for me to note that you should still enjoy the holidays to the fullest and not let the thought of the aftermath get to you. With that being said, here’s how to reset after all of the fun.

Stay Hydrated

One of the most common things to feel after constant traveling is dehydration. I’ve made it a point to drink as much water as possible every day, not just when I’m traveling, and it has helped me stay more alert, productive, and feeling healthier. I use a reminder app that sends me notifications for times to drink water throughout the day.

Sweat It Out

One of the most effective ways to detoxify your body is by actually sweating out your toxins. If you can head to a sauna or a hot yoga session once you’re back and settled at home, your body will seriously thank you. You’ll feel more rejuvenated and relaxed, which is perfect for getting back into the swing of things.

Take A Bath

Pamper yourself and indulge in a nice, warm bath for about 20-30 minutes. Add some detoxifying bath salts to gently, but effectively flush out toxins from our body. You’ll feel like you’re at a spa, right in the comfort of your own home.

Sip Some Tea

The benefits of tea are endless, and there are plenty of detoxing teas out there for you to try. Swap out your morning coffee for a cup of tea, or have some to sip right before bedtime. It’ll help your body reset and get back to business, all while enjoying the delicious herbal flavors of tea.

Take Probiotics

To make your detoxing process more effective, add some good bacteria into your daily routine. Take a daily probiotic to help your gut health and improve your body’s daily functions. Your gut contributes to a majority of your overall health, so you’ll want to care for it as much as possible.

Be extra cautious of getting the recommended eight hours of sleep. If you’re heading in and out of different time zones, your body will inevitably feel it. Don’t slack on getting the right amount of sleep and get some extra zzz’s if you can.
